1. Introduction to GH825 materials

GH825 is a fully austenitic titanium-stabilized nickel-iron-chromium alloy with added copper and molybdenum elements. As a universal engineering alloy, it resists corrosion by acids and alkalis under both oxidizing and reducing environments.

High nickel content delivers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking. It performs well in multiple corrosive media including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, organic acids, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid solutions. Its outstanding comprehensive performance enables unified processing of mixed corrosive media such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid and sodium hydroxide inside nuclear dissolver equipment.

Rich chromium, molybdenum and copper endow GH825 with strong general corrosion resistance against oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids, especially superior tolerance to sulfuric acid. High chromium, molybdenum and nickel content provides excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. Ultra-low carbon content minimizes intergranular corrosion sensitization during welding.

4. GH825 alloy characteristics

  • Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking
  • Superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance
  • Great resistance to oxidizing and non-oxidizing hot acids
  • Stable mechanical properties from room temperature up to 550℃
  • Approved for pressure vessel service up to 450℃

5. Corrosion resistance of GH825 alloy

GH825 is a universal engineering alloy resistant to acid and alkali corrosion under oxidizing and reducing conditions. High nickel content effectively prevents stress corrosion cracking, with stable corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, organic acids, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. Its all-round performance allows simultaneous treatment of sulfuric acid, nitric acid, sodium hydroxide and other mixed corrosive media inside nuclear dissolver equipment.

6. GH825 application fields

GH825 is widely applied in industrial environments with service temperature ≤550℃.

  • Heating pipes, containers, hanging baskets and conveyor chains for sulfuric acid pickling lines
  • Seawater cooling heat exchangers, marine pipeline systems, acid gas conveying pipelines
  • Heat exchangers, evaporators, washing & impregnation tubes for phosphoric acid production
  • Air heat exchangers in petroleum refining equipment
  • Flame-resistant structural components for high-pressure oxygen service
