1. Introduction to GH825 materials

GH825 is a fully austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy with titanium stabilization, and copper and molybdenum are added. GH825 is a universal engineered alloy that has anti-acid and alkali metal corrosion properties in both oxidation and reduction environments.

The high nickel component makes the alloy effective resistance to stress corrosion cracking. The corrosion resistance is good in various media, such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid and organic acids, alkali metals such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid solutions. GH825’s high comprehensive performance is reflected in nuclear combustion dissolvers with various corrosive media, such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid and sodium hydroxide, all processed in the same equipment.

Because GH825 alloy is rich in Cr, Mo, and Cu, it has good resistance to comprehensive corrosion to both oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids. Especially it has extremely high corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid. Due to the high content of Cr, Mo and Ni, it has excellent pit corrosion resistance, gap corrosion resistance, stress corrosion resistance and crack resistance in chloride environment. GH825825 alloy controls the carbon content to an extremely low level, is not easy to sensitize during welding, and has low intergranular corrosion sensitivity.

V. Corrosion resistance of GH825 alloy

825 alloy is a general engineering alloy with acid and alkali metal corrosion resistance in oxidation and reduction environments. The high nickel component makes the alloy effectively resist stress corrosion cracking. The corrosion resistance is good in various media, such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid and organic acids, alkali metals such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid solutions. The high comprehensive performance of 825 alloy is reflected in nuclear combustion dissolvers with various corrosive media, such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid and sodium hydroxide, all processed in the same equipment.

6. G H825 application fields

GH825 alloy is widely used in various industrial fields where the temperature is not more than 550℃.

  • Heating pipes, containers, baskets and chains for sulfuric acid pickling factories,
  • Seawater cooling heat exchanger, marine product pipeline system, acid gas environmental pipeline,
  • Heat exchangers, evaporators, washing, impregnation tubes, etc. in phosphoric acid production,
