1. Introduction to DC53 materials

      DC53 steel is a new type of cold work mold bar that improves SKD11, and its technical specifications are included in the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) G4404. It overcomes the weakness of SKD11’s high-temperature tempering hardness and toughness, and will completely replace SKD11 in the fields of general and precision molds. The toughness of DC53 is more prominent in cold-working mold steel, and its toughness is twice that of SKD11. Therefore, cracks and cracks are rarely produced by DC53, which greatly improves the service life. The residual stress after wire cutting process reduces the residual stress by high temperature tempering. Therefore, cracks and deformations after online cutting and processing of large molds and molds that require precision are suppressed.

      Special specifications for mask machines: 60mm~95mm, commonly used specifications: 1.3mm~295mm

3. Advantages of DC53 over SKD11

      1. The heat treatment hardness of DC53 is higher than that of SKD11, and its toughness is twice as high as that of SKD11:

      2. DC53 high temperature (520-530℃) can reach high hardness of 62-63HRC after tempering. Therefore, DC53’s strength and wear resistance can exert its performance better than SKD11;

      3. Among the tool steels for cold processing, DC53 has the highest toughness, so it can prevent cracks and collapses in tools and molds. Tools made with DC53 rarely appear cracks and cracks, which improves service life;

      4. DC53 can improve the huge carbides of SKD11, and improve it to less than 1/3 of SKD11, so it can prevent chipping, etc. from causing mold damage.

4. DC53 heat treatment and hardness

      Forging temperature: 1100~900℃

      Heat treatment temperature: annealing 830~880℃/quench 1000~1040℃/temperature low temperature 180~200℃/annealing high temperature 520~530℃

      Hardness: Quenching/tempering HRC62~63/HRC60~62
